  • WELCOME TO DEPARTMENT OF SANSKRIT

    Department of Sanskrit was established along with establishment of the college in the year 1981 . Initially it was in Intermediate level , affiliated to Utkal University . Degree classes were opened in the year 1988 with pass subject . Honours in Degree classes were opened in the year 1994 with 16 seats and further increased to 32 seats in 2015-16 . At present the subject is available to the students as Honours,Pass and 

          RELEVANCE OF THE SUBJECT

           Sanskrit is the most interesting and scientific language of the world. Study of Sanskrit helps in reviving the ethos of India. It helps the students to unlock the treasure-house of scientific insight and research results concerning positive sciences in our ancient literature. Hymns of Rigveda are the seeds of Sanskrit literature. Vedas are the soul of Indian culture and tradition. Indian culture and tradition is in Sanskrit only. It is the store house of all types of knowledge, which are very useful to maintain a healthy and tension free life in the society. The culture of Sanskrit is the culture of synthesis and assimilation.

  • HISTORY OF THE DEPARTMENT       

  • The Department of Sanskrit, an important and popular Department of College came into being in the year 1994 in Nayagarh Prajamandal Mahila Mahavidyalaya, Nayagarh, Odisha under the able guidance of Prof. Minati Pani, who along with Dr. Nirmala Nayak adorned the Department for quite a long period. The learned teachers of our Department have worked relentlessly to restructure the Sanskrit syllabus and reposition the teaching of Sanskrit to cater to the various needs of students. Both the study of Sanskrit language and the study of Sanskrit literature have been balanced and effectively maintained. The Department also provides education in Vedas, Upanishads and in related shastras. Brilliant Lecturers over the years have inspired our younger generation to keep up the spirit of study. With these things in mind the Department performs seminars, spoken Sanskrit classes and remedial classes. The Department holds Review Meetings periodically to discuss the progress of study when necessary.

    ·                  To encourage the students to lead a successful and fearless life.

              The mission of Sanskrit literature is one of humanism, of unity, of mankind, of values, of peace and mutual understanding and of harmonious development of the individual and the society. Hence the mission of our Department is the same one.
